Background

One of the pillars that Leave a Nest stands by is Human Development, where we focus on career development of students, as well as supporting companies that create jobs. Through our innovative methods in incorporating Mini Career Workshops, participants will get to know more about the company programs and projects. In turn, the company will also be able to screen which participants are best suited for the role within their organization.

This year’s Career Discovery Forum PH will focus on forging long-lasting connections between young talents who are passionate in changing the world, and companies that create innovative solutions in addressing societal challenges.

Keynote Speaker

Kurt Prieto

Lead Designer
SOLX Technologies

Ever since graduating from Ateneo High School, Kurt Prieto has relentlessly pursued art leading him to study at the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Fine Arts. After graduating from UPD, he has been the Lead Designer of SolX Technologies since it was a small start-up based in Ateneo, being a key member in shaping SolX's visual identity, hardware tech design, and the UI/UX of its core platforms from its early days. Together with the other Atenean founders during its inception, they began creating tech solutions to promote increased market competition and cheaper energy prices in the energy industry. By deepening its experience and gaining insights from closely working with the industry, SolX eventually developed an entire digital ecosystem to help industrial end-users save on energy costs. To date, their market validated technology has saved over P500M for over 60 clients in every high power-consuming sector representing more than 200MW of demand. Aside from working in the tech landscape, Kurt has also honed his skills in 3D printing, 2D illustration and pixel games illustration, having multiple games published on Steam under his belt.

Forum Session

This is a platform where speakers from the academia, the government, the industry, and the startup sector discuss a common issue revolving around the theme of the event. The theme for this year’s Forum Session is “Bringing Innovative Careers Closer to Home”. This session will begin with a brief background of the current development and climate of STEM careers in Japan; in turn, a panel of representatives from industry leaders will share their companies’ initiatives and programs focused on research development and innovation.

Richard Milante, MBA

Richard Milante, MBA has 7 years of experience at the intersection of real estate development, operations management, and healthcare service delivery. An alumnus of the Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in North Carolina, USA, Richard earned his Masters in Business Administration specializing in Health Sector Management last 2022. He currently serves as the Chied Operating Officer of Legazpi Eye Center, the largest and most comprehensive eyecare provider in the Bicol Region, and as the Strategy and Investments Lead of Two Tigers Holding Corporation, his family holding company with interests in healthcare, real estate, and impact investing. His work spans the daily operations of two ambulatory surgical centers, the management of more than 70 individuals, and the planning and implementation of strategic business development initiatives.


Peter Cauton

Peter Cauton started his career teaching high school English and in corporate Human Resources before taking the leap into entrepreneurship. Peter is passionate about building the future of work and learning. His mission is to equip and empower the right founders to find their life’s work – and in doing so leading to meaningful and purpose-driven companies. In doing this work, Peter has become a multi-awarded serial entrepreneur in the Future of Work space, having cofounded several scaling startups such as flexible benefits firm STORM and freelancer benefits platform Allcare. Peter is currently running a venture builder called Humanae ventures, which has since launched startups such as digital learning service firm Bihasa, network-based recruitment firm Cluster, and is busy incubating a couple more. Peter was the 14th local entrepreneur selected in the prestigious Endeavor Global Network of high impact entrepreneurs, has raised over $7M for his startups, and has been a longstanding mentor in Google’s global startup accelerator, Google for Startups. Peter lives in Antipolo with his wife Pauline and their seven children, is an avid Lakers fan, and is always in search of the best burger in town.


Pat Dacanay

She is a multifaceted professional with a passion for talent acquisition and management, serving as a driving force behind Holcim Philippines' With a keen eye for talent and a dedication to fostering inclusivity and high performance, Pat is not only a talent development strategist but also a staunch advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Beyond their role at Holcim, Pat is a skilled social media manager, assisting businesses and executives in amplifying their online presence through strategic planning and captivating content creation.


Career Pitch

A live presentation of representatives from various companies, industries, startups, and the public sector advertising about their services, their working environment, and the goals they are striving to achieve in hopes of acquiring potential members or collaborators from the audience. Presentations are strictly limited to 90 seconds with no question & answer portion as the format would be a fast-paced pitch presentation going from one presenter to the next, creating a heated atmosphere between the presenters and the audience and thereby raising their interests more.

Medical Test Systems, Inc. (MEDTEST) is a Filipino-owned company. Most of its stockholders are doctors while others have backgrounds in academe, research, or industry. Legazpi Eye Center operates two of the largest and most comprehensive eye care facilities in the Bicol Region. Mini Workshop

Partners will be given a platform to exchange ideas with the participants which could lead to new projects or careers. There will be 1 workshop session for each company, which will be repeated 5 times to maximize the number of students who can join.
